My Mid-Season Thoughts Leading to an Epic Finale

With nine games left to go, the season is reaching a period of crunch-time for championship contenders, as well as teams fighting to stay up. Twenty-nine games have been played as of this moment, and I feel the need to reflect upon the great season that is about to come to an epic finale.      First, let's talk about my revised prediction for the top 4. In my blog before the season started, I predicted that Liverpool would finish 4th, behind 3rd place Chelsea, 2nd place Manchester City, and Champions of England, Manchester United.      Well, I'm not too far off.       Currently, Manchester City sits first with 70 points, with Liverpool right on their heels with 69 points. Behind the Reds sits Chelsea with 59 points, and in 4th place sits cross-town rivals Arsenal, who I guess I underestimated at the start of the season, seeing as I placed them 7th.       Let's talk about the biggest disappoi...

Tottenham Fire Nuno Espirito Santo: Is Harry Kane to Blame?

Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo has been fired by the club after only 10 games managing the Spurs.      This comes after Tottenham suffered a brutal loss to Manchester United, where they were defeated 3-0 by the Red Devils.      Tottenham are now sitting in 8th place in the table, accumulating 15 points after 10 matches. The last game was the battle of the managers in the hot seat, as many analysts claimed that whichever manager lost that game would be sacked.      The hand was dealt early, as Cristiano Ronaldo fired home a wonderful goal in the dwindling moments of the first half. It was all United from then on, as normally electric players like Heung-min Son and Harry Kane just couldn't get any support going forward.      This leads me to Harry Kane, and whether or not he is to blame for Nuno's dismissal. Being the main focal point of this Tottenham team, Kane is expected to single-handedly win...

Does Manchester City Really Need A Striker?

No team can match the raw talent and beauty of Pep Guardiola's Manchester City. With boatloads of cash coming from the Sheikh Mansour, the Prime Minister of the opulent nation of the United Arab Emirates, City are free to spend however much they please.       However, City have been at the forefront of one of the biggest transfer debacles in recent history; Harry Kane, the clinical forward from Tottenham, has made it clear that he no longer wants to be a part of the lackadaisical North London squad.      The "will he," "won't he" conversation has been a field day for English football journalists, who are loving every second of this conundrum. However, after City thrashed newly promoted side Norwich City 5-0, questions were raised about whether or not the current City squad really need Tottenham's star number 10.      I'll start with this, Harry Kane is not even close to being worth the 150 million pounds that Daniel L...

New Season, New Predictions. Predicting the 2021-2022 Premier League Table

As the curtain is about to be raised on a new Premier League season, everyone loves to speculate on who will triumph, and who will crash and burn.      As customary before the start of the season, I will be giving my predictions on how the Premier League table will look on Championship Sunday in 2022.       Let's get right into it starting with the teams that will be relegated.      20. Norwich City- Recently promoted Norwich City will struggle in the league, just as they did in the 2019-20 season, where they finished dead last. However, with the recent signing of Chelsea young talent Billy Gilmour in the midfield, as well as finisher Teemu Pukki, Norwich may fair a bit better than their previous EPL season.      19. Brentford- Brentford may not be a name many are familiar with, as they have spent a majority of their recent history in the Championship, but they do have a couple bright prospects that co...

The Azzurri Deny England's Coming Home Celebration

To conclude a monumental tournament, Italy drew England 1-1, but emerged victorious in penalty kicks after 3 straight misses from the Three Lions.      The game was fierce and fiery from the start, with an electric half-volley scored by Manchester United full-back Luke Shaw, who elevated the Three Lions to a 1-0 lead in the 2nd minute.     After the goal, Southgate deployed a hold the lead tactic, moving his midfielders deeper, and asking his players to control the ball. Up until the halftime whistle, England were comfortably holding the Italian advance.      Both Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips played extraordinarily well; when one went forward, the other sat in behind, providing an extra defender in case of possession loss.         When the teams reemerged, Italy looked vibrant and dangerous, using possession to open channels to attack in. At this point, England dropped deep and hoped to contain...

Why Every Top Premier League Club Should Watch Alexander Isak

Move over Zlatan, Sweden has a new clinical playmaker.        If you've been watching Euro 2020, more specifically, the games in which Sweden has participated in, you might think Zlatan Ibrahimovic was still playing.      Tall, prolific and technical; not to mention from Sweden, Alexander Isak has shown the world that the comparisons to Zlatan are no fluke.      Alexander Isak is a name that many may not be familiar with, but after his recent season with Real Sociedad, in which he netted 17 goals, clubs in need of a promising young forward should look no further.      While Isak has yet to score in the group stages of Euro 2020, no one can deny the impact that he has had on the matches he has appeared in. He looks lively, creative and his long strides help him blow past defenders.      Tall players are going out of style in Europe now, with many scouts and teams focusing on small, maneuverable ...

Why The Sale of Bernardo Silva Will Be Manchester City's Biggest Transfer Blunder

Elusive, creative, dynamic.      These short words sum up the play-style of Bernardo Silva perfectly, from his fancy footwork to his silky passing, Bernardo has become one of the best midfielders in the world.      Gaining real recognition after Monaco's surprise run in the 16/17 Champions League, Silva was sought after by many big clubs, including Manchester City, which, in the summer of 2017, he signed a 5 year contract.      While playing a substitute role in their centurion season, in which they collected 100 points, Silva became an integral part in their 2018/19 title defense, seeing him shine in a central midfield role, rather than his natural role on the wing.      Silva has always been a catalyst for forward movement, using his footwork to open up space for runs in behind, or taking it in the box himself. His small size allows him to weave in-and-out of danger to free up teammate...
